Who receives the story?

So even if PURSUE gets the most honest whistleblower imaginable, someone who truly wants society to know, their story still lands in the hands of “designated representatives.”

Who picked those people? Where do we get a say in what happens to that story?

The September 14 announcement gives covered current and former personnel an authorized route to disclose protected UAP information to PURSUE, the government's UAP disclosure effort. The Department of War describes relief from civil and administrative enforcement of their secrecy agreements, specifically for those communications. Then comes review, security evaluation, and possible declassification. The invitation is to tell the designated team.

I want people to come forward. A lot of these claims are really exciting, and someone sitting on firsthand knowledge might finally feel able to share it. That could matter a lot. But I don't look at a government disclosure initiative and assume there isn't a plan behind it. I want to know what happens after that person has told them everything.

PURSUE was already releasing files in May, so there is a public side to this. What the new invitation makes me wonder is how a witness's account travels from that first conversation to something the rest of us can actually hear. Who gets to decide which parts belong together, which parts need more investigation, and which parts we're allowed to see?

Because you could have somebody walk in with an account that changes the meaning of something already released. Maybe one strange detail only makes sense alongside another. If those pieces come out separately, years apart, or one never comes out at all, we could spend all that time arguing about a picture that the people receiving the account already know is incomplete. That possibility concerns me even if everybody sitting across from the witness is perfectly polite.

The announcement doesn't tell me who those individual recipients are or give me a date when an account becomes public. I'd want those answers before treating the invitation as the breakthrough we've been waiting for. I'm excited that someone might finally speak. I also want to know who gets the next say.
