The Navy and the Historical File

Four takes on why the Navy keeps turning up: the ships that might be the story, a nuclear site that attracts more than one kind of attention, the wider picture somebody may already have, and the Navy's habit of appearing.

What depth means here

Nothing about credibility. Stops sit on one line in reading order, exactly as on the flat map. A connection between neighbouring stops runs along that line. A connection that skips stops arcs away from it, and each arc takes its own lane so that arcs never cross or overlap. The direction and distance of an arc, the size of a stop, the thickness of a line and any movement of the camera carry no meaning: they do not signal credibility, certainty, corroboration or importance. Documented
